Excessive work being taken from the employees
After this incident, the railway employees have raised objections and said that the railways are making the railway employees do more work. Four employees are required for coupling an engine and a train but only one employee is being made to do the job and this is why this accident happened. When the engine driver was bringing the engine back, neither the signal staff nor any other staff was present.
The deceased person was identified as Amar Kumar, a 40-year-old resident of Barauni Colony. The deceased had got the job on compassionate grounds. His father was also a railway employee and he had died four to five years ago. The deceased Amar had got the job in his place.
How did the accident happen? The loco pilot left the engine and ran awayIt is said that during coupling of the engine and the bogie, the loco pilot moved the engine backwards instead of moving it forward, due to which the railway employee died after getting crushed between the bogie and the engine. People standing on the platform informed the loco pilot of the incident. Instead of moving the engine forward and backward, the loco pilot ran away leaving the railway employee crushed. On receiving information about the incident, railway officials including GRP and RPF police have reached the spot and started investigating the entire case. Sonpur DRM Vivek Bhushan Sood also visited the spot. He has assured that the case is being investigated and if this incident has happened due to shortage of staff, then the shortage will be made up so that such incidents do not occur in future.
