8 months in jail, 3 years suspended… now got posting again, know who is IPS Manish Agarwal?

IPS officer Manish Agarwal, who had served jail term in the bribery case and was suspended for 3 years, has got a new posting again. This 2010 batch officer was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau of Rajasthan in the year 2021, after which he was in jail for about 8 months and was then out on bail.

It is the year 2021. The Anti Corruption Bureau of Rajasthan arrested IPS officer Manish Agarwal. He was accused of running an extortion racket in connivance with other senior officers of the state government. He was then working as a commandant in the State Disaster Response Force i.e. SDRF. After his arrest, he was jailed and the state government also suspended him for 3 years, but now he has got a posting again, after which he has once again come into the limelight.

Who is Manish Aggarwal?

IPS Manish Agarwal, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, is a 2010 batch IPS officer. He was allotted Jammu and Kashmir cadre. After receiving training from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) located in Hyderabad, he was posted in Jammu and Kashmir for about two years, but later he got married to an IPS officer and changed his cadre. His wife was in Rajasthan cadre, so he also got his cadre changed to Rajasthan. However, later they got divorced.

What was the reason for the arrest?

IPS Manish Agarwal was accused of bribery. Reports said that he had collected lakhs of rupees as bribe through middlemen from the highway construction company. Two SDM officers were also arrested in this case. They were accused of taking a bribe of 5-10 rupees. After investigating the case, the Anti Corruption Bureau of Rajasthan state arrested Manish Agarwal in February 2021. He remained in jail for about 8 months and later came out on bail, but since the state government had suspended him, he was not in any posting and job for 3 years.

After about 3 years, in May 2024, the Bhajanlal government of Rajasthan reinstated his service and now he has also got a posting. He has been posted as SP in the Police Headquarters of Jaipur.
