Moments after the cleaning team finished servicing, strange noises were heard coming from the helicopter's rotor. Suspicious of what was happening inside the cockpit, the ground staff decided to investigate the matter and were stunned to see two soldiers having sex inside. When they looked, they realised that the soldiers were under the influence of alcohol.
According to the report, the armed Apache helicopter costs 8.5 million euros and is equipped with a 30 mm cannon and Hellfire missiles. The act was carried out by maintenance workers during their night shift. Both soldiers were found half-clad, with the male soldier in his army uniform and the female in civilian clothes.
The two were then asked to dress and were taken into custody. The helicopter belonged to the 653 Squadron of the Army Air Corps, while the soldier-duo belonged to a different army unit. They were detained until officers from the 653 Squadron and officers from the soldiers' parent units arrived," the Military Aviation Authority report said.
The incident is now coming to light due to a technical glitch. The incident took place at Otterburn Range in Northumberland. According to a report by a leading media agency The Sun, the air crew was asked to lock the helicopters to avoid such incidents in future.
