India vs Pakistan has always been one of the best matches in the cricket world. There are people who look at the India-Pakistan game rationally and statistically, but there are also people who look at the India-Pakistan game emotionally. Recently Indian cricket fans were a bit disappointed when Babar Azam surpassed Virat Kohli in terms of T20 International runs.
This record was broken on 18 November 2024 in the third T20I at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Australia. Although the Kangaroos managed to secure a comfortable win against the Pakistanis with 7 wickets and 52 balls to spare and won the T20 series 3-0 and defeated Pakistan, Babar Azam gave his country something to be happy about.
He scored 41 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 146.42 and became the second-highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals. He scored 4192 runs in 41 innings.
He surpassed Virat Kohli and secured the second spot for himself on the podium. Rohit Sharma remains at the top, but Babar is only 40 runs away from breaking Rohit Sharma's record of 4231 runs in T20 Internationals.
Babar Azam is inching closer to the top spot. While the Indians will be busy with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy till January 7, 2025, Zimbabwe will host the Pakistani cricket team for a 3-match ODI and a 3-match T20 series.
The first T20 will be played on December 1 and Babar Azam is very likely to reach the top spot. 'Records are meant to be broken'. The game of cricket proves that. Virat, Rohit and Babar are all world-class athletes but it is a matter of time to see who will be next in line.
