Sikhism has many important religious places. Many cities including Delhi have popular Gurudwaras of historical and religious importance, while five Takhts i.e. five Gurudwaras are the most important. These five Takhts are in India itself. The most prominent of which is Shri Akal Takht Sahib. It is located in the Golden Temple of Amritsar.
The second Takht Shri Keshgarh Sahib is in the Rupnagar district of Punjab. The third Takht Shri Damdama Sahib is present in Bathinda, Punjab. The fourth Takht Shri Patna Sahib is in Patna district of Bihar. The fifth and last Takht Shri Huzur is located in Maharashtra. Apart from these five Takhts, one more place is considered the most important and sacred for Sikhs. The name of this place is Kartarpur Sahib. Kartarpur Sahib is present in Pakistan.
Every year lakhs of devotees visit Kartarpur Sahib. The question is whether entry to Kartarpur Sahib can be given only to people of Sikh religion or others can also go. How much does the ticket for Kartarpur Sahib cost and how can one reach here.
World's largest Gurudwara
Kartarpur Sahib is considered to be the world's largest Gurudwara. It is located at a distance of 5 km from the India-Pakistan border. Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, stayed at this place. It is believed that he did farming in Kartarpur village during his 18 years.
Who can go to Kartarpur Sahib
There is no religious discrimination in Sikhism. People of any religion and caste are allowed to come to Sikh religious places like Gurudwaras. Here, langar is arranged for everyone, in which people of every religion can eat a full meal. Similarly, there is no restriction on the entry of a person of any religion in Kartarpur Sahib. Apart from Sikhism, a person of any religion, Hindu or Muslim, can go there.
Entry fee of Kartarpur Sahib
Kartarpur falls in Narowal district of Pakistan. Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara is there. Every year lakhs of devotees from India go to Kartarpur Sahib. Therefore, it is operated from both India and Pakistan. This entire area is called the Kartarpur Corridor. Indian devotees can go to Kartarpur without a visa. However, they have to pay an entry fee to visit Kartarpur Sahib. This fee has been fixed by the Pakistan government. To visit Kartarpur Sahib, a fee of 20 dollars i.e. about 1600 rupees has to be paid.
How to get entry in Kartarpur Sahib
The journey here runs from 8 am to 3 pm. Pilgrims have to return before sunset. All devotees going to the Gurudwara have to register first. After online registration, permission is given through ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) on your email. You have to keep a copy of it with you at the time of travel.
