Alan Titchmarsh star 'in tears every night for a year' after 'draining' ordeal

Alan Titchmarsh's Love Your Weekend turned emotional this Sunday as one guest star broke down over an "emotionally draining" ordeal.

Singer Pixie Lott appeared on the show to chat about her new album, the first in 10 years, and Alan was gushing too over her acting work. Pixie has recently starred in McDonald and Dodds, but it was her West End role in Breakfast at Tiffany's that left her "crying on the stage every night" for an entire year.

Alan was keen to know more, asking Pixie: "You said you were emotionally drained, lying on the stage in tears?" She replied: "I didn’t know what I was letting myself in for. I loved it so much, the director and the cast were amazing, but for almost a year I was crying on the stage every night.

"By the end I was just a broken shell of myself and not myself, it crept up on me. It was a really tricky patch. I definitely write about that on the new album, I didn’t want to hide anything."

Pixie also told The Sun: "By the end, I was a completely broken version of myself. I couldn’t function properly at all. It really affected me mentally. And I’d never had anything like that before. I was living with it for a couple of years. It took me a while to get out of that frame of mind.”

The problem was that the play was based on the book rather than the film, which is "a lot lighter". In the book, however, Pixie's character loses everything, including her husband, her baby and her cat.
