'I used to plaster fake tan over my curves - but look 15 years younger after one change'

Sometimes, you can convince yourself that following a trend is necessary to look good.

Think inches thick eyebrows of the past, or caked-on foundation that didn't even match the shade of your neck - we've all made some serious faux pas when it comes to the way we look.

user @shelbysaywhatblog thought that she had an obligation to wear because of her "". She said: "You know the expression 'tan fat looks better than pasty fat'? I think at my core, I really started to believe that". But with the change she made, people said she looked "15 years ".

She continued: "I believe all beauty products should be a tool to enhance your natural beauty but the minute you start to believe you need a product in order to feel beautiful… I think it’s time to make a change, or at least in my case it was."

Shelby said that she'd been fake tanning since she was a teen, so it felt like the "foundation" of who she was.

"I’m not saying I’ll never self tan again. Because let’s be honest, a good spray tan slays. I just knew it couldn’t be this habitual practice for me anymore. I can’t let it get in the way of how I feel about myself. I’m good enough just as I am, and you are too", she wrote.

Over the top of the clip, she said she used the fake tan as a "crutch" to "feel good" in her "curvy body". She said she knew she needed to fix the "root of her insecurity", and now will not rely on fake tan to make herself feel better. At first, she could be seen in a glamorous red dress, looking incredibly glam and tanned. However, in the next clip, her beauty shone through as she rocked a denim vest, shorts, and cowboy boots. She looked at ease with herself as she threw all her fake tanning products into a bin bag, vowing to not let them define her anymore.

Over the top, she wrote: "I haven't used any fake tanning products in nearly two months. [I'm] learning to embrace my natural skin and finding my confidence from within".

In the comments, people went crazy for the way she looked without fake tan, wondering why she'd ever doubted that she was beautiful.

Comments included: "You look 15 years younger!", "You genuinely look so much better without the tan! You're gorg!", "You in the second video took my breath away!! Glowing and gorgeous!!!", and "You are SO inspiring and honestly, your natural skin looks UNBELIEVABLE".

Someone else praised her, writing: "It’s crazy that I see your natural skin and am like she is so undeniable beautiful how could she ever feel that way?? While I simultaneously feel exactly that way lollll thanks for always being so real".
