Jake Paul's immediate reaction to Mike Tyson pulling out of boxing fight

Jake Paul has revealed he was left devastated when Mike Tyson postponed their fight.

YouTuber Paul was due to face Tyson in July but the heavyweight legend was forced to delay the eight-round clash by four months when he suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. Tyson was taken to hospital where doctors discovered a two-and-a-half inch ulcer which was bleeding.

Tyson immediately postponed the fight until November 15 when he was ordered to take a break from training. He and Paul soon set a new date, however, with the rivals now just days away from meeting in the ring in front of up to 80,000 fans in Texas. And Paul, who has won 10 of his 11 professional boxing fights, admitted he was disconsolate after hearing Tyson's news.

"When I received the news that he was out and not able to fight, I was just numb, I was just like, 'f***...'," he said on a documentary. "I'm the type of person who likes a schedule and likes to know what I'm doing. This just threw a wrench in all of that, there was nothing I could do, it was out of my control.

"Nobody can tell what to do and if he wants to fight me, of course I'm going to say yes. This is the opportunity of a lifetime to fight one of the two most famous boxers to ever live; Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. I look at Mike Tyson as a killer so I never really expected something like this."

Paul went on to fight bare-knuckle boxer and former star Mike Perry on the original date for his clash with Tyson, stopping his opponent in the sixth round. And he added: "At the end of the day the Mike Tyson fight is great but I have a goal to become champion and I'm not slowing that down for anyone."

Tyson has not fought since he drew with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr four years ago in an exhibition fight which he largely dominated. Paul fought on the undercard that night, knocking out NBA star Nate Robinson with a devastating second-round stoppage.

Tyson and Paul will meet in a sanctioned bout but will fight over two eight-minute rounds and wear padded 14oz gloves. The result of the fight will go on their respective records and will be Tyson's first professional bout since he quit on his stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride almost 20 years ago.
