Jack Ponti, who worked with Jon Bon Jovi and Alice Cooper, has died aged 66.

An obituary from Thompson Memorial Home confirmed the news that he died on October 7, 2024. The obituary said: "While widely recognized for his musical genius, it was his boundless love for his family, generosity of spirit, and fierce loyalty that truly defined him."

It also read: "Jack had a rare ability to make people feel seen and valued, whether in the music studio or at home. His generosity extended beyond his family, as he was always ready to offer advice, lend a hand, or simply bring laughter to those around him. His warmth and wisdom will continue to resonate through the countless lives he touched, long after the music fades. "

The songwriter, producer and musician was born in New Jersey and worked with the likes of Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Nelson and Skid Row. He contributed to early Bon Jovi albums co-writing the likes of Shot Through The Heart on the self-titled album with Jon. He also co-wrote six out of the 12 songs on Alice Cooper's Hey Stoopid.

Jack, born Giacomo Pontoriero, started his music career by playing guitar in the New Jersey-based band The Rest in the 1970s with a young Bon Jovi on vocals. Although the band never landed a major record deal, they got support from bigger New Jersey acts, Southside Johnny and E Street Band. Jack and Bon Jovi kept in touch after the group disbanded.

The songwriter also contributed to John Farnham's 1996 album Romeo's Heart. Jack produced albums for rock and metal groups including Baton Rouge, Kittie, Otep and Doro, as shown on . He managed R&B singer India Arie.

He leaves behind his wife, Tatyana, his daughter, Neva, his granddaughter, Jordyn, and his sister Nikki.
