The Cotswolds at Christmas is a winter wonderland, where cobblestone streets are dusted with snow and twinkling lights turn sleepy villages into festive dreams.

The pretty village is also known as "Venice of the Cotswolds" thanks to its five picturesque stone bridges that span the River Windrush. Built from golden stone, many of its charming houses are over 300 years old, adding to the village's timeless appeal.

Every year a giant floating Christmas take pride of place on the river. In a unique tradition dating back to the 1950s, the twinkling lights reflect in the water create an even more magical atmosphere.

Other highlights that are as enjoyable at Christmas time as they all year round include the Cotswold Motoring Museum with vintage cars and nostalgic toys, Birdland with its exotic birds and life-sized dinosaur models, and the enchanting Model Village, a 1930s-scale replica of Bourton itself.
The Kingsbridge, Mousetrap, and Duke of Wellington all serve up a superb Sunday roast for hungry diners or when a well deserved festive pint is on the agenda.
Another seasonal highlight can be found in the nearby village of Broadway. Their Late-Night Christmas Shopping event which is set to take place on Friday, November 29 and Friday, December 6, 2024. These magical winter evenings brim with Christmas cheer, featuring street entertainers, live music and mulled wine with shops welcoming visitors for a spot of late night shopping.
Visitors to the village have been quick to leave high rating reviews on trip advisor. @CJohnP who was there is September described the village as being "One of a kind" adding "Highly rated and unique place to visit."
@dnowland_12 called it a "Wonderful, wonderful village" saying "We were happy to just wander around and enjoy all the cottages, side streets and riverside walks. More than enough pubs, cafe's and attractions, a must to visit if you are in the area."
Another reviewer, @Sachin G simply called it "Amazing, beautiful, romantic place."
The historic city of Gloucester is about 45 minutes from Bourton on the Water, providing main live train services to London and beyond.
