Prince George mystery cleared up by Mike Tindall who reveals rare fact about youngster

As second in line to the throne, it's obvious that as the years go by, will follow in his father's footsteps.

He too seems destined to one day become heir to the throne like his dad and take on all the responsibilities that come with it. But over the past few years, it seems George has been following in William's footsteps in another way - and that's by sharing his love of football.

The 11-year-old has been spotted at several high-profile England matches including the Euro final loss to Spain in Berlin in the summer and has even accompanied his dad to watch his beloved Aston Villa at Villa Park. However, William has not divulged whether George is in fact a die-hard Villa fan.

But now it seems , the husband of William's cousin Zara, has cleared up the mystery - and confirmed George is indeed a Villa supporter. Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, Mike divulged: "George loves his football. I've played numerous times in the garden with him. He's passionate about Aston Villa, too. Wherever he is, he'll sit down and watch that game."

In a previous interview with Australian Women's Weekly, Zara spoke about her and Mike's three children's close bond with the Wales trio and admitted that it can all get a little bit competitive at times. "Our kids play with their kids in this competition we have," Zara revealed.

It's no surprise that the Tindall children are so close to George, Charlotte and Louis. Their eldest Mia is just six months younger than George, while middle child Lena is the same age as Louis, born less than two months after the Prince. Charlotte is right in the middle of the two sisters. Zara and Mike also have a young son called Lucas.

Speaking previously to the Telegraph, Mike spoke of their bond: "Lena and obviously Louis are similar ages and Mia's sort of in between Charlotte and George, and then you've got Peter's [Phillips] children Savannah and Isla who are just a little bit older." He added: "James [Prince Edward and Sophie's son] is, well, not exactly the ring leader, but he's the oldest. So, yeah, it's going to be a good little group."

Mike's revelation about George comes just weeks after William was seen wildly celebrating after Villa earned a famous 1-0 victory against in a match. However, it left many scratching their heads as to why the future King supports the team, rather than a London club.

However, he admitted in an interview in 2015: "A long time ago at school I got into football big time. I was looking around for clubs. All my friends at school were either Man United fans or fans and I didn't want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams.

"I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments. Aston Villa's always had a great history. I have got friends of mine who support Aston Villa and one of the first games I went to was Bolton v Aston Villa back in 2000. Sadly, Villa went on to lose to Chelsea.

"It was fantastic, I sat with all the fans with my red beanie on, and I was sat with all the Brummie fans and had a great time. It was the atmosphere, the camaraderie and I really felt that there was something I could connect with."
