Sherrie Hewson admits 'it's very confusing' as she addresses Hollyoaks future

Send Push

Actress Sherrie Hewson has admitted that things are "very confusing" in Hollyoaks as she discusses upcoming storylines.

The long-running soap recently aired a dramatic time jump which saw the loss of many characters. The controversial time push was a solution to the show's budget cuts which forced producers to reduce the number of episodes and cast members.

As producers decided to move forward with time, 20 characters, which is about a third of the cast., have been removed. It also resulted in the soap having three episodes now instead of the usual five.

Talking about the new scenes ahead, Sherrie spoke candidly on the Johnny Seifert’s Secure The Insecure Podcast. Johnny said: "Well it's a really year for Hollyoaks and I actually thought you had left the show because you're not in the titles at the moment.

"And obviously we've had the time jump now. So what's gone on with you and that because we haven't seen you in, I don't know what we call, what do we call it 2025 or do we just say one year on but we There's a year that just didn't exist, the COVID year."

Responding openly, Sherrie, who plays the character Martha Blake said: "Yes, I don't know. But I am in the next titles, because I've now gone back. I was not there in August, this August gone, because they were going on with the time jump.

"So the next titles, I'm in that. So now I'm back. Having done the time jump, I'm not sure if I could tell you I would, but I don't know really.

Explaining what her character has been up to, Sherrie added: "I've been in a home, I think. I'm out of the home now. I'm back with Sienna now. I'm living with Sienna now, but she's thrown Jeremy out. But now I think we're all back. It's very confusing. I just go and I go, what's the next scene?"

The news comes after actor Matthew James-Bailey shared his thoughts on being killed off from the show. Matthew who plays the role of Ethan Williams managed to escape the major time jump cast cut but unfortunately, he was killed off from the show in suspicious circumstances on Monday after his wedding to Sienna Blake (played by Anna Passey).

Talking about his departure from the show, Matthew told Digital Spy: "It's really bittersweet. It's come to an end a lot sooner than I would have liked.

"In previous interviews, I've said that I'd happily stay at Hollyoaks forever. It wasn't my choice to leave, but that's just the way that the game works, unfortunately! It's hard to say goodbye to the fans and all of the people there that I love. But you have to look at it as new beginnings, take the bull by the reins, get back on and do it."

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays at 7pm on E4
