UK food safety chiefs have recalled multiple products from brands and stores following concerns they may prove dangerous for people with nut allergies.

The Food Standards Agency, the government body responsible for ensuring food safety and hygiene, issued an urgent notice today communicating that a food firm, FGS Ingredients Ltd, is recalling several products containing mustard power, as the ingredient may contain peanuts.

The FSA notice states: "FGS Ingredients Ltd is recalling a number of products containing mustard powder because they may contain peanuts. This means these products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

"These products are sold under several different brand names at several different retail stores."

The full list, available here, includes dozens of products, among them Trailhead Fine Foods Get Jerky BBQ Beef Jerky and Frozen Iceland Takeaway Chinese Style Chicken Curry.

The FSA said FGS Ingredients has recalled the products and been advised to contact allergy support organisations. The organisation added that point of sales notices explaining the products have been subject to a recall would be attached to the items where they are being sold in supermarkets and shops.

The FSA said in a statement: "FGS Ingredients Ltd is recalling the above products and have been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

"These products are sold under several different brand names at several different retail stores. Point of sale notices will be displayed where the products were sold.

"These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products."
