A murder probe has been launched after the body of a young woman was found in the boot of a car on the Essex border.

launched the investigation amid concern for the welfare of a woman, 24, from Corby, on November 13. Officers from the Metropolitan Police made the discovery following reports from their Northamptonshire colleagues.

Police shut off access to the park with forensics teams being seen investigating the area around the car. The Met Police said they were alerted about the missing woman earlier this month.

A Met Police spokesperson told The Sun: "Shortly after midnight on the morning of Thursday, 14 November, the Met was contacted by officers from Police raising concerns for the welfare of a woman who was believed to be in a car in the east London area.

"The car was located parked in Brisbane Road, Ilford and the body of a 24-year-old woman was found inside the vehicle. Her death is being treated as suspicious."

No arrests have been made as of Saturday afternoon and an investigation into the death is ongoing.
