X Ban in Brazil:  The Supreme Court of Brazil had banned X in the country some time ago. The court had also imposed a fine on X. Now the news is coming that X has paid the fine imposed by the top court of Brazil, but the company has deposited this fine in the wrong bank.

The troubles of Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), are not reducing. Actually, the Supreme Court of Brazil had banned X in the country some time ago. The court had also imposed a fine on X. Now the news is coming that X has paid the fine imposed by the top court of Brazil, but the company has deposited this fine in the wrong bank. Now the question in everyone's mind is what will happen next.

The Brazilian Supreme Court said

Brazil's Supreme Court said on Friday that lawyers representing microblogging platform X had not deposited the fine in the correct bank. Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes confirmed that X had deposited the money in the wrong account. This forced the court to postpone the decision on whether X should be allowed to resume service in Brazil.

Moraes also stipulated that once the fine is paid, Brazil's Prosecutor General will give his opinion on a recent request made by X's legal team in Brazil, which is seeking to reinstate the platform in the country.

Why is X banned in Brazil?

A judge in Brazil's Supreme Court had ordered X to be shut down because Musk refused to remove dozens of accounts that allegedly spread hate speech and misinformation. Musk also did not name his legal representative in the country, as the order said. X was then fined and banned in August.

Following a legal battle, X and Starlink accounts were frozen and a fine of ₹18.35 million ($3.3 million) was transferred to the national treasury. However, the ban on X has not been lifted. According to a report, the company was recently asked to pay pending fines of more than $5 million, including a new fine, before it will be allowed to resume its service in the country.
