Israel is not a member of G7, so why was an emergency meeting called after Iran attack?

Send Push

After Iran's attack on Israel, America called an emergency meeting of G7 countries. In this meeting held on Wednesday, Iran's attack was condemned and it was also said that Israel has the right to respond. But America has also drawn a Laxman Rekha for this, America has said that if Israel attacks Iran's nuclear facilities, then America will not support it.

The US, UK, Japan, France, Canada, Italy, and Germany, which are part of the G7, stressed a diplomatic solution to reduce tensions in the Middle East. But the question arises that Israel is not a part of the G7 group, so why did these countries show such haste on this issue? Actually, no country is untouched by the impact of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and if this conflict increases further, its impact can be even more horrific. There are 5 major reasons for this restlessness of the G7 countries.

First: Good relations of G7 countries with Israel

The friendship between America and Israel is well known, but Israel's relations with all the other countries in the G7 have been good. Like America, Britain has also been selling large quantities of weapons to Israel. Apart from this, Britain supported Israel in foiling Iran's attack in April. Apart from this, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and Germany are also among Israel's major allies. This is a matter of double concern for France because if unrest increases in the region, the situation in Lebanon will worsen, which it does not want at all.

Second: If tension increases then there is danger of world war.

Both Iran and Israel have strong military power. Iran has the world's most dangerous drones and ballistic missiles, while Israel has high-tech weapons provided by America. If this tension between the two increases, it will take the Middle East to the brink of a world war, because in case of a direct war between the two countries, there will be a possibility of Western countries getting involved in it. On the other hand, if Russia and China come to Iran's rescue, then the human and economic losses caused by the war cannot even be imagined.

Third: Drawing a red line for Israel

The G7 countries condemned Iran's attack in the meeting and also said that Israel has the right to respond to this attack. But the US President has set a red line for Israel. Biden has said that if Israel attacks Iran's nuclear program, he will not support it. In fact, it will be very difficult to prevent the damage caused by targeting Iran's nuclear program.

Fourth: Send a strong message to Iran

The G7 countries are preparing to impose more sanctions on Iran. Through the new sanctions, an attempt will be made to send a strong message to Iran that all these powers stand firmly with Israel. Due to international sanctions, Iran's economy has slowed down considerably, so it is possible that Iran will not want any major confrontation with Israel.

Fifth: It is difficult to sponsor the third war

At present, two big wars are going on in the world on two fronts, on one hand, the Russia-Ukraine war that has been going on for two and a half years, and on the other hand the Gaza War. Many countries including America are not directly involved in both wars but are definitely sponsoring one side. America, Britain, and Germany are among the countries that have provided large amounts of lethal weapons to Ukraine. At the same time, America and Britain have also been providing military help to Israel. In such a situation, it will be difficult for these countries to sponsor another war.
