According to the Panchang, the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month will start on October 16 at 08:41 pm and will end on the next day i.e. Thursday, October 17 at 04:53 pm. Therefore, Sharad Purnima will be celebrated on October 16. On this day, the moon will rise at 05:04 am.

Moonrise on Sharad Purnima will be at 5:04 pm. Kheer is kept in the moonlight on Sharad Purnima. The time to keep Kheer is from 08:40 pm.
Why do we keep Kheer on the night of Sharad Purnima?
According to religious beliefs, on the night of Sharad Purnima, the moon is full of 16 phases, and Amrit (nectar) rains on this day. The rays of the moon provide coolness and also have medicinal properties. Therefore, if kheer is made and kept in the moonlight, it will have medicinal properties. This will provide relief from diseases.
