After winning the US presidential election, Donald Trump addressed the people and said that he would stop the war. Trump will sit on the President's chair in January 2025, but his efforts to stop the war seem to be bearing fruit. This is being said after the meeting between two top officials of Iran and Saudi Arabia. Experts are seeing this as an important step in reducing tensions in the Middle East. On the other hand, the Ukrainian army, which fought a war with Russia for more than 30 months, also made a big announcement after Trump became President. It said that it would withdraw its troops from Russia's Kursk region. These two big developments are being seen as a glimpse of Donald Trump's dream.

Saudi official visits Iran

Saudi Arabia's Chief of Staff General Fayyad al-Ruwaili recently visited Iran. He met his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Baqeri in Tehran. Iranian media said they discussed defense diplomacy and the development of bilateral cooperation. Iranian media said Baqeri had talked about regional development and defense cooperation with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman al-Saud last year.

Ruwaili is only the second high-profile Saudi official to visit Tehran since diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran were restored in March 2023. Earlier, Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan visited Iran in June 2023. Experts said the timing of the visit is significant as it comes as various countries are preparing for Trump's second presidential term.

Relations were broken in 2016

Sunni-majority Saudi Arabia broke ties with Shia-dominated Iran in 2016. Experts said the Saudi decision to send its top military officer to Tehran is a sign that they are committed to the process started last year and they do not want the recently improving relations with Iran to be in danger under Trump.

During his first term, Trump enjoyed good relations with Middle Eastern countries and worked to normalise relations between Arab states and Iran's arch-enemy Israel.

Ukraine's announcement after Trump's speech

Earlier, after winning the election, Trump had said that he was going to stop the war. Now he will not allow any war to take place. Shortly after Trump's speech, Ukraine's army chief announced that he would withdraw his army from Russian territory. The region of Russia from which Ukraine announced to withdraw its army is Kursk.

Ukraine claims that Russia has lost more than 20 thousand personnel in the Kursk region in three months. Kursk is the area where North Korean soldiers also recently landed in support of Russia. The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on since February 24, 2022. The war started with Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It has been 31 months since this war. Trump won the election by blaming President Joe Biden for Russia's attack on Ukraine. Apart from this, he has also been targeting NATO.

It was only after Ukraine's announcement that reports emerged that Donald Trump had a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This news was published in the Washington Post, which Russia rejected.

It said that there was no conversation between Trump and Putin. A Kremlin spokesman said the reports were pure fiction, while Trump's team told the BBC that it would not comment on the private call of the newly elected president.
