He has been made the new captain of Uttar Pradesh's T20 team. He will captain the Uttar Pradesh team in the tournament starting on November 23.

Uttar Pradesh team is included in Group C of the tournament, which includes teams from Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Manipur, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, and Jharkhand. Their first match is against Delhi on 23 November. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the experience of captaining Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL, so the youth will get a lot to learn under his captaincy. The team's top-order batsman Madhav Kaushik is the vice-captain of the team.

In this season's Ranji Trophy, Kaushik played a brilliant innings of 163 runs against Punjab, while he scored 346 runs in 5 innings.
