Assam CM Reports 53 Lakh BJP Members Enrolled; Government Transfers ₹510 Crore to Entrepreneurs

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state has successfully enrolled 53 lakh members in the BJP, achieving 85% of its membership target. He stated, "So far we have been able to enrol 53 lakh members, and we have achieved 85 per cent of our target. Assam is the number one state across the country to achieve this milestone." In 71 assembly constituencies, more than 40,000 members have been enrolled in each constituency.

During his visit to the BJP headquarters in Guwahati on Monday, CM Sarma participated in a review meeting regarding the party's membership drive. He expressed optimism that the party would reach 40,000 members in 90 assembly constituencies by October 9, projecting a potential total of 56-57 lakh members in the coming days.

In a post on X on September 29, CM Sarma highlighted the rapid progress, stating, "As of today, 71 constituencies have now enrolled 40K+ members. The pace at which Assam is breaking records at #BJPSadasyata2024 is exceptional. Kudos to all our Karyakartas."

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the BJP's 2024 membership drive by renewing his own membership on September 2 in New Delhi, receiving his certificate from BJP president JP Nadda.

Additionally, the Assam government announced the transfer of ₹510 crore to the bank accounts of 25,000 entrepreneurs under the Chief Minister's Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA). CM Sarma shared this achievement on X, stating, "Gives me joy to share that today we have transferred ₹510 crore to the bank accounts of 25,000 entrepreneurs under the Chief Minister's Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA). This will give wings to the aspirations of our citizens and harness their entrepreneurial energy."
