Mumbai: The postmortem of NCP (Ajit faction) leader and former Maharashtra government minister Baba Siddiqui is underway at Cooper Hospital in Mumbai after his murder. A team of five doctors has been working since morning for the postmortem, and it is also being videographed. Baba Siddiqui was shot outside his son Zeeshan Siddiqui's office in Kher Nagar, Bandra on Saturday night.

Mumbai Police has arrested two of the three shooters. Police say that these shooters were monitoring Baba Siddiqui's house and his son's office for the last two months. At the time of the shooting, they reached the spot in an auto rickshaw. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang is likely to be involved behind the incident. Following this information, security has been increased outside actor Salman Khan's house in Bandra. The police have deployed an additional team there, as the same gang had fired outside Salman's house on April 14.

According to sources, the shooters fired 6 rounds at Baba Siddiqui, out of which three bullets hit Baba-two in the stomach and one in the chest. Apart from this, two bullets also hit his car. A person accompanying Baba was also shot in the leg. Baba was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, but he was declared dead there at 11:27 pm. During the incident, the street lights were off and there were no CCTVs in the area, which the attackers took advantage of. Despite Baba Siddiqui's car being bulletproof, the bullet pierced the glass of the car. A 9.9 mm pistol was used in this incident, which has been recovered by the police. It is reported that Siddiqui had received death threats 15 days ago and was given Y level security, but at the time of the incident, no security personnel was present with him.

After the attack, all three attackers fled, but the public caught one of them. The second attacker was trying to hide in a garden, but he was also caught. The third accused is still absconding. Police sources say that all these accused had come to Mumbai from Pune. Mumbai Crime Branch and encounter specialist Daya Nayak are investigating the case. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that two accused—Karnail Singh of Haryana and Dharmaraj Kashyap of Uttar Pradesh—have been arrested, while the third accused is absconding.
