The election campaign for the Khair assembly by-election in Aligarh will conclude today, November 18, at 5 pm. After this, candidates can only campaign by visiting voters door-to-door. The election preparations are nearly complete, with both police and administrative teams ready for the voting process, which is scheduled for November 20.
Polling will take place from 7 am to 6 pm on November 20, with polling parties departing for the Khair constituency at 8 am on November 19 from Dhanipur Mandi. After voting, the EVMs will be securely transported to Dhanipur Mandi and stored in a strong room until the vote count begins on November 23.
In the Khair by-election, five candidates are competing, including Surendra Diler from the BJP-RLD alliance, Charu Kain from the SP-Congress alliance, Dr. Pehal Singh from the BSP, Nitin Kumar Chotel from the Azad Samaj Party, and Bhupendra Kumar Dhangar from the Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party. However, the contest is mainly seen as a close race between the BJP, SP, and BSP candidates.
Meanwhile, the election campaign for the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections is also wrapping up today. Voting for 38 seats in this phase is scheduled for November 20, following the first phase on November 13. The results for both Jharkhand and Maharashtra will be counted on November 23.
JMM leaders Hemant Soren and Kalpana Soren have held 60 rallies together in Jharkhand, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has addressed seven meetings, with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge holding four more.
