The registration deadline for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 has been pushed back once more, now set for October 11. This extension follows previous delays, moving the original deadline from September 26 to October 3.
The GATE exam will be hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and will take place in February 2025. Registrations opened on August 28 and have been extended twice in response to student requests.
According to an official notification from IIT Roorkee, “Due to several requests from applicants, the closing date for the extended online registration/application process (with a late fee) is further extended until 11:59 PM, October 11, 2024 (Friday).”
GATE 2025 will offer 30 test papers, including both full and sectional options. The registration fee is Rs 900 for female candidates and those from SC, ST, and PwD categories, while the fee is Rs 1,800 for all other candidates, including foreign nationals.
Candidates who have not yet registered and wish to take the exam can apply online at the official website: gate2025.iitr.ac.in.
How to Apply for GATE 2025
Here are the steps to apply for GATE 2025:
Step 1: Go to the official website. Step 2: Click on the ‘Apply Now’ option in the applications menu. Step 3: Fill in your personal details, including the test papers you wish to take, your postal address, exam cities, and your qualification degree information. Step 4: Upload a scanned copy of your photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), and PwD certificate (if applicable). Step 5: Enter details for a valid government ID and your bank information. Step 6: Complete the payment process. Step 7: Print the GATE 2025 application form and check your application status to ensure it is complete.
The photograph you upload will be used on both your admit card and scorecard. IIT Roorkee is expected to announce the application editing window soon. The GATE 2025 admit card is likely to be released in January, with the exam scheduled for February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025.
