Recently, film director Anurag Kashyap told about his first meeting with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. RK's Theatre and Films Group posted an interview in which Anurag spoke openly about this. Anurag told that he saw Nawaz for the first time through Rajpal Yadav. Anurag said, "Rajpal Yadav had come to Mumbai at that time, but he was going to leave the city very tired and disappointed. At that time there was an actor named Ashraf Ulhaq in the film Black Friday, who is no longer among us. He asked me if I could talk to Rajpal Yadav and give him hope."

Anurag further said that he met Rajpal Yadav at the railway station, where Nawazuddin Siddiqui was holding his suitcase. This is where the meeting between Anurag and Nawaz started.

Role of the waiter in Shool

Anurag recalled that he told Rajpal Yadav that they were casting for the film Shool and there was a role for him. Rajpal Yadav said yes to that one scene role. Anurag said, "Rajpal's career started from there." During this, Nawazuddin asked Anurag if he could also get a role. Anurag said, "Now there are no roles left, but I can hire you somewhere else." Nawaz then said that he did not even have money for food and he was ready to do anything. Thus, Nawaz was given the role of a waiter in a scene with Manoj Bajpayee and Raveena Tandon in the film Shool. Nawaz was very thin at that time, but his hard work and dedication helped him move forward.
