India Shines with Five More Gold Medals at ISSF Junior World Championship

India continued its impressive performance at the ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru, adding five more gold medals on day four. With this latest achievement, the Indian shooting team has now secured a total of 14 medals in the competition, comprising 10 gold, one silver, and three bronze.

In the women's 25m pistol event, Divanshi clinched gold by scoring 35 points, narrowly defeating Italy's Cristina Magnani, who scored 33 points. France's Heloise Fourre took home the bronze medal. Divanshi’s journey to victory was remarkable, as she overcame a challenging start, missing seven of her first 15 targets. After initially placing sixth, she recovered impressively, hitting 16 of her next 20 targets.

On the same day, Divanshi also partnered with Tejaswini and Vibhuti Bhatia to win gold in the junior women's 25m pistol team event. The trio combined for a total score of 1711, outperforming teams from Czechia and Germany.

Nelavalli also had a standout day, earning two additional gold medals to bring his championship total to three. He won gold in the junior men's 25m pistol with a score of 585, finishing ahead of fellow Indian Suraj Sharma, who secured silver. Together with Pradhyumn Singh, who scored 561, the trio won the team gold, defeating Poland.

India's fifth gold medal of the day came in the junior men's 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) team competition. The team, consisting of Shourya Saini, Vedant Nitin Waghmare, and Parikshit Singh Brar, scored 1753, equalling the junior world record during the elimination round. Norway finished second, five points behind, with Sweden taking third place.

Shourya Saini qualified for the final with a score of 583 but finished seventh overall in the event.
