TELENGANA: A flight from Hyderabad to Bangkok declared an emergency early on Saturday, November 16, after receiving a bomb threat, authorities confirmed. NOK Air Flight DD959, scheduled to depart from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad to Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, was immediately diverted, and all passengers were safely deboarded.
Mukesh, a Public Relations Officer for GMR, said, "The flight declared an emergency this morning. All passengers were evacuated and moved to the terminal for security checks, while their luggage was unloaded and inspected."
Earlier this week, a separate bomb threat caused a flight from Nagpur to Kolkata to make an emergency landing at Raipur Airport, triggering a thorough security check. A passenger was detained by Raipur police in connection with the incident.
Security agencies are investigating multiple hoax bomb threats, but efforts to trace the culprits have not been successful. A senior official shared, "We have been working with cyber experts and several teams, but our efforts have not led to any breakthroughs. It is confirmed that VPN services were used to send these threats."
Initial investigations revealed that the bomb threats originated from European countries, but attempts to trace the IP addresses have come to a dead end.
As part of heightened security measures, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has deployed a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) team at major airports to enhance safety protocols.
