Punjab Police Shatters Drug Smuggling Gang: Six Kilograms of Heroin and Ammunition Seized

 Amritsar: Punjab Police on Sunday achieved a major success by busting a gang involved in drug smuggling across the border. In this operation, the police recovered six kilograms of heroin and 67 live cartridges from the gang. This action has been carried out by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC).

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said that this move is a significant progress against the cross-border drug network. SSOC Amritsar busted the heroin smuggling gang and arrested them. The items recovered from them include 6 kg heroin, 67 cartridges, 2 magazines and 6 mobile phones. Police have registered an FIR under the NDPS Act in this case and investigation is on to arrest the accused, in which a big network is likely to be exposed. This is not the first time that a gang smuggling drugs across the border has been busted. Earlier in July also, the NDPS team had busted a similar gang.

Additionally, Amritsar Commissionerate Police conducted another major crackdown on cross-border drug smuggling. Police arrested three smugglers, including a key accused, Gurbax alias Lala. Police seized 1 kg ice drug, 2.45 kg heroin and 520 grams of precursor chemical pseudoephedrine from him. Gurbax Lala was actively supplying precursor chemicals, which were used to adulterate raw heroin and make crystal methamphetamine. He used to get a commission of Rs 50,000 on every consignment. Besides, the other two arrested smugglers have been identified as Daljit Kaur and Arshdeep, residents of Chheharta.
