Why do you see familiar faces in dreams? Know the reason behind it

Dreams often seem like another world to us, where everything feels real. Sometimes dreams are so vivid that we remember them even after waking up. You may have noticed that in dreams, mostly the same people or places appear that we already know. Let us know why this happens and why humans have dreams.

Science of dreams: Many scientific studies have been done to understand the origin of dreams and their causes. Especially psychology and neuroscience have worked a lot on this. We dream when we are in the REM (rapid eye movement) phase of sleep. During this time, our brain is very active, and it reorganizes the experiences, thoughts, and emotions of the day. In simple words, when we sleep, our brain works on the things that we have thought or felt while awake.

Psychology's opinion: According to psychology, dreams are a reflection of the thoughts, desires, and worries of our subconscious mind. According to the famous neurologist Sigmund Freud, dreams reveal our hidden desires and emotions. Freud believed that through dreams we experience our latent desires, which we are unable to recognize while awake.

Familiar faces appearing in dreams: Now the question arises: why do we see only familiar faces in our dreams? The reason for this is that the faces of the people with whom we have an emotional bond in our life are deeply imprinted in our minds. When we spend time with someone, their face remains in our memories, and this is the reason why the same faces appear again and again in our dreams. The appearance of a particular person in our dreams shows that we are thinking about them subconsciously. This bond can be in any form—love, hate, fear, anger, or lust. Dreams depend on what you are thinking about that person while awake.
