During a reception held for the National Day of Spain, some guests appeared to overlook the heir to the Spanish throne, Princess Leanor.
A clip shows the awkward moment dignitaries shake the hands of her parents, and King Felipe, but fail to do the same with the young heir to the throne - despite standing next to them.
Leanor is filmed stretching out her hand, expectantly waiting to greet the guests during the ceremony in Madrid, yet the attendees seemingly had different plans.
One woman can be seen shaking the Queen's hand, then walking directly past the Princess. Just moments later, however, she turned back to greet Leanor, having been so distracted by her delight in speaking to Queen Letizia.
The Princess, 18, appeared amused on the two occasions this happened, seeing the funny side of the situation.
The Spanish Royal, heir to the throne, was elegantly dressed in her military attire.
Leanor is currently undergoing military service for three years in the Navy, attending the ceremony in the affirmed uniform.
Every year on October 12, Spain celebrates Columbus Day. The festivities include a military parade attended by the royal couple who joined other authorities at the Plaza de Neptuno before they presided over the raising of the Spanish national flag.
Unfortunately, the Autumnal event brought less-than-perfect weather, with blankets of clouds and rain.
However, the Queen did not allow the drizzle to dampen her impeccable style as she stepped out in Madrid for her public appearance.
Pairing her red dress with similar coloured kitten heels, she clutched a matching bag and styled a belted beige mac.
The daytime event calls on female guests to wear a dress and for men to wear suits, in turn attracting an elegant crowd.
Although high-profile guests are always in attendance and dressed immaculately, eyes are often on the style icon Queen Letizia, as royal fans are eager to see her outfits.
Meanwhile, her husband Felipe looked equally dapper, donning a uniform for the ceremony.
According to Spanish media reports, the family were not joined by their daughter Infanta Sofia, 17, who is currently studying for her two-year International Baccalaureate diploma at a Welsh boarding school.
