BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent pauses as co-star delivers 'really important' message

Send Push

host Sally Nugent paused during the show on Tuesday, November 19 to hand over to her co-star for a "really important" message.

Sally, who was co-hosting with Jon Kay, told viewers: "Carol (Kirkwood) has got a really important weather forecast for us right now because some of you might be opening your curtains this morning and seeing snow. That's right, isn't it Carol?"

The weather presenter replied: "Absolutely right Sal, yes. Good morning everyone. The snow isn't everywhere but quite a lot of us are seeing it this morning." Carol then showed a selection of photos of snowy scenes sent in from viewers.

Some places, including Nottinghamshire, saw 12cms of snow while many areas were freezing and temperatures in some parts of Scotland were minus nine degrees. Carol also showed a map of yellow weather warnings for snow and ice.

"It could lead to some disruption so it's worth checking before you head out," warned Carol. "Wherever you are today it's going to be cold and it will be even colder in the north."

Jon then issued a plea to viewers saying: "We'd love to see photos if you've got snow where you are this morning."

Elsewhere in she show, Sally was left red-faced by a segment about a calendar of nude photos which was launched to raise money for charity.

Discussing news of the Denton Calendar Boys, Sally and Jon tried their best to share news about a group of men who stripped off to raise money for charity.

Like the famous Calendar Girls, who raised millions for blood cancer research, the Denton boys are taking a similar approach. However, when introducing the segment, the presenters were speechless.

As Jon continued to giggle, Sally turned to and said: "I'm shocked. I don't really know what to say."

As Carol expressed her shock, Jon stepped in to explain the concept to viewers at home.

While looking at an image of one of the nude men from the calendar, he said: "You've heard of Calendar Girls, well this morning we can tell you about the Calendar Boys and that's one of them."

Sally replied: "Yes, this has nothing to do with our farming story which is also the lead this morning. A group of men from Norfolk have bared all in hopes of raising money for their local hospitals and our brave reporter Robbie West has been to meet the Denton Dream Boys."

BBC Breakfast is on BBC One weekdays at 6am and on BBC iPlayer
