Strictly Come Dancing sensation Tasha Ghouri is turning the tables on her childhood tormentors. The stunning 26-year-old Love Island star, shaped by a challenging upbringing due to being deaf, has revealed how the show is giving her sweet retribution.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Tasha divulged: "I struggled through school. I had quite a bit of cyberbullying."
She recalled the hardships she faced, saying: "There were keyboard warriors. The school had to get involved. No one else in my school was deaf. I felt quite lonely."
Admitting the impact it had on her, she said: "My confidence was knocked. It was tough."
Rising above the difficulties, Tasha is now thriving and jubilant as she masters the dance floor on BBC's Strictly.
She went on to share an inspiring message of defiance: "When I was being bullied, I always thought, 'One day I'll prove you all wrong'. So being able to say I've done that with Strictly is amazing."
Emphasising resilience in the face of adversity, Tasha remarked: "I'm so pleased that I never let the bullies stop me. I'm so much stronger now. That's always been my motivation, to do better and work even harder."
With gratitude for her past experiences, she explained: "In a way I'm thankful I went through all the hard times because it's made me who I am today."
Tasha, proudly using a cochlear implant, has become a beacon of hope for others facing similar challenges.
She joyfully shared: "People with hearing aids have messaged me. I've had people saying, 'You've given me the confidence to wear my hair up' or 'I've put sparkles on my hearing aid'."
Her ultimate aim is clear, as seen when she asserted: "That makes me so happy. I want to give people confidence."
