Bukayo Saka injury update as Arsenal star limps out of stadium after England loss

has provided an update on an injury sustained by Bukayo Saka in 's defeat to Greece on Thursday night.

The Arsenal star was helped off of the pitch in the 52nd minute, with Noni Madueke coming on in his place.

Saka appeared to sustain a hamstring issue whilst looking to deliver a cross, and Arsenal will be impatiently waiting to learn the severity of the problem. Tightness in the area would rule the winger out for a matter of days, but a strain will see the forward sidelined for weeks.

Asked about Saka's injury in his post-match interview, Carsley said: "He's being assessed. Obviously, in the build-up to the first goal, you could see he felt something in his leg."

England's medical staff were on hand to help Saka off of the pitch once it was ruled that he could not continue against Greece, and the 23-year-old looked equally uncomfortable as he left Wembley Stadium.

Footage of Saka hobbling out of the ground was shared on social media, in a clip which will strike fear into the heart of Mikel Arteta.

The winger has enjoyed an impressive start to the season for the Gunners, scoring two goals and registering seven assists in seven appearances.

With still ruled out through injury, Arteta may not feel that he can afford to lose Saka for an extended period of time given that the two absences are likely to strip his team of their immense creativity at a key stage in the season.

Arsenal face next weekend once the international break has concluded before they clash with Shakhtar Donetsk in the at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners then host Liverpool before travelling to Newcastle and then Chelsea in what appears to be a tricky run of fixtures for Arteta's side.

Arsenal will be hoping that Saka is fit to feature in those matches, and a tell-tell sign of his condition is expected on Sunday when England travel to Helsinki to face Finland. If the forward features in Carsley's squad then Arsenal can breathe a sigh of relief, as long as their academy graduate makes it through the match without reaggravating the problem or sustaining a fresh setback.
