Caitlin Clark makes claim about leftfield career switch thanks to huge net worth

Caitlin Clark has revealed her post-basketball ambition to open a restaurant or coffee shop - and she has the financial means to do so at any time. Despite her youth, has already made a name for herself in the WNBA.

The 22-year-old has claimed a multitude of accolades, including being the first rookie since 2008 to earn a spot on the All-WNBA first team, and winning the Rookie of the Year title. appeared on the Taco-Bout Network podcast alongside fellow stars Jada Gyamfi, Gabbie Marshall, and Kate Martin to discuss her life after the sport.

Clark said: "Have you ever seen them put up like that dream thing, you know, it was kind of going around. It said like play in the WNBA and get a scholarship? One of the ones said like own a restaurant so one day, I have to accomplish that."

Gyamfi asked: "What kind of restaurant would you open?" Clark replied: "This is actually a funny story. I grew up and there was always like this random open lot and I always told my mom I was going to open this restaurant called The Rib Shack, I don't know why! I wanted to have a barbecue, I think it was like rib...no, it was Rib Crib.

"I always wanted to open this restaurant called Rib Crib and like I was devastated when the lot got purchased and they built a retirement home on it so yeah, literally every time I drove by it I told my mom I'm like that's my lot, this is where I'm going to build the Rib Crib."

Clark, who is set to participate in the LPGA The Annika driven by Gainbridge pro-am, continued to express her hopes of one day opening her own business. She added: "Hopefully one day, maybe I'll have a coffee shop or a restaurant or something just as a fun thing you know, once I'm done playing.

"I'm thinking like you do the dishes, you take out the trash and you wipe the tables. Just kidding! You guys could just come and get free whatever and I'll name a dish or a coffee after you."

With a reported net worth of around £3million, Clark has the financial means to make her dream a reality. Her four-year deal with Fever is worth £261,000, while her Nike contract is set to bring in £21.6m over eight years.

Clark previously commented on her deal, as she said: "It's amazing to see how far women's sports have come, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."
