Daniel Craig has given a very brutal but honest answer when being quizzed about who should play the next .
Speculation has been rife for who might be next to step into the 007 spy's shoes. The former Bond actor, 56, played the iconic character for five films in the franchise, between 2006 and 2021.
asked Daniel outright what he thought about who might take over, while he was working to promote his new movie Queer. They questioned: "If you were to pass the James Bond torch, who would you love to see play him?"
The iconic actor laughed as he issued a blunt response, saying: "I don't care."
A year following's final No Time To Die release in September 2021, producer Barbara Broccoli said that there was a year wait before filming the next instalment of the films. However, now in 2024, filming has still not started so there could be a much longer wait, much to the disappointment of fans.
In June, 2022, Barbara said: "There isn't a script and we can't come up with one until we decide how we're going to approach the next film because, really, it's a reinvention of Bond.
"We're reinventing who he is, and that takes time. I'd say that filming is at least two years away."
It is no surprise that fans think , as he was runner-up to for Casino Royale in the last round of Bond auditions almost 20 years ago.
Speaking about his audition, Casino Royale director Director Martin Campbell told Variety: "He looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous.
"And look, if Daniel didn't exist, Henry would have made an excellent Bond. He looked terrific, he was in great physical shape... very handsome, very chiselled. He just looked a little young at that time back then."
However, now in his 40's, addressing the speculation that he could be in the running once more, Cavill said:"I have no idea. All I've got to go off is the rumors. The same information you have.
"Maybe I'm too old now, maybe I'm not. It's up to Barbara Broccoli and Mike Wilson and we'll see what their plans are."
