Daniel Ricciardo set to receive new offer as announcement made following F1 sack

In-demand is likely to receive another fresh offer following the probable end of his front-line F1 career. The Australian was brutally dropped from sister team following the Singapore Grand Prix, with New Zealander Liam Lawson taking his place for the rest of the season, starting at the US Grand Prix later this month.

Having been axed by McLaren at the end of 2022, Ricciardo returned to the Red Bull stable last year with a view to getting back into the main team alongside However, he failed to recapture the form which made him one of F1's top dogs in the 2010s.

At 35 and with a Red Bull seat now out of the question, he accepts his days at motorsport's top table are all but over. However, the popular racer hasn't been short of offers since his VCARB axe.

Now, Ricciardo is likely to receive an invite to a high-profile motorsport event, the Race of Champions, which next year will be held at Sydney's Accor Stadium, with claiming organisers will be targeting him to compete. The event, which has previously been held at Wembley Stadium and Paris's Stade de France, is heading Down Under for the first time ever.

Billed as a battle between F1, IndyCar, Le Mans, World Rally and Rally X legends, it will take place on March 8, just a week before the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, which will open the 2025 F1 season.

Ricciardo took part in the 2015 Race of Champions, which was held at Wembley, and would be a big draw for local fans. The likes of Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Lando Norris and Jenson Button have taken part in previous years.

"ROC has always been about pushing drivers to their limits in unique conditions. Australia has a rich motorsport heritage, and we're looking forward to celebrating that by pitting some of the best Australian drivers against some of the world's most legendary racing stars in a spectacular showdown in the middle of Accor Stadium."
