The latest instalment in the Dune franchise is just around the corner, as heads to the UK. Airing later this month, the new prequel series will take place 10,000 years before the events of Dune and long before anyone knew the name Paul Atreides.
The six-part drama takes inspiration from the novel Sisterhood of Dune, written by Dune author Frank Herbert's son Brian Herbert and New York Times bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson. It comes hot on the heels of Denis Villeneuve's two-part feature epic starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, which has raked in more than $1billion at the global box office.
Dune: Prophecy was first announced in 2019 - two years before the release of Dune - with Villeneuve attached to direct the pilot. The series has since gone through several changes behind the scenes, with Lost and Westworld producer Alison Schapker eventually taking the reins as showrunner and executive producer.
