One X user, wrote: "Love how he walks the walk with sustainable fashion. We really need to put a stop to the amount of shoddy /unwanted clothing being dumped."

A second fan wrote, "More of this style please Prince William" whereas another claimed, "Vintage is the way!".

Yet another added: "He looked relaxed & as always dashing."

As reported in the , Mary Allen, from Natural Fiber Welding who make Purified Shoes, said: "I had no idea Prince William was going to be wearing the shoes until just before we got here. It's such a huge honour."

She added: "I was told he sourced them himself after learning of our product and it's a massive boost for us. Meeting all them finalists and being here is going to launch us onto massive things, we couldn't be prouder. Meeting Prince William today was a huge honour and you can sense the passion he has for this project."

On the green carpet, model Winnie Harlow, who presented one of the awards, said: "I was really honoured to get a royal letter asking if I could come here. I felt really honoured because I feel this should be something near and dear to everyone's heart when it comes to taking care of Mother Earth, the planet. I always think it's an honour."

Model Heidi Klum said: "This is my first time here [South Africa], I am blessed to be here."

She added: "It is so important what is doing, and for the amazing people showcasing their work. These people are incredible with what they do to make tomorrow better for all of us."

Earlier in the day, the "we are here for you" as he geared up for the awards ceremony.

He told the group: "You are all amazing. You should be immensely proud of yourselves. The whole Earthshot team loved hearing about your ideas, the solutions you are all coming up with, and I hope you've found it beneficial to be here together and creating such a great vibe."
