George Baldock's devastated fiancée has shared a moving tribute to her "soulmate" as tributes continue to flock in for the former Sheffield United star following his tragic death at the age of 31.

The Greece international's body was found in his swimming pool at his Athens residence on Wednesday. He leaves behind his young son, Brody, and fiancée Annabel Dignam, who has issued a heartbreaking tribute on her private Instagram account.

Sharing a picture of the pair smiiling together on her account, she wrote: "George, the love of my life, my soulmate. The perfect dad to our beautiful boy.

"You completed me. You were my world and I know we were yours. You are here with me in Brody's smile, giggle and infectious personality. My world will never be the same but I will find a way for Brody. I promise."

Earlier, George's family issued their own statement, highlighting the profound impact he had on their lives: They wrote: "You were the most special father, fiancée, son, brother, uncle, friend, teammate and person.

"Your enthusiasm and infectious personality brought so much love to those that were fortunate enough to know you and those that adored you from the stands. We will forever cherish the special memories we have of you and you will continue to live on in your beautiful son.

"You were due to fly home today for us to celebrate his first birthday together, but instead we mourn your loss. As a family it has been incredibly touching, but equally so very difficult to read the huge number of tributes written by those that knew George and from those whose life he touched.

"It was impossible not to love him. We ask that you please continue to respect our privacy at this devastating time as we begin to process our grief."

The Greek international footballer had moved to Panathinkaikos from Sheffield United, qualifying for the national team through his grandmother.

Among the others to pay trubute to George was Pavlos, Crown Prince of Greece, who took to social media to express his grief. He posted on his Instagram story a photo of the player, saying 'RIP George Baldock'.

Sheffield United have also shared a number of social media posts. Their statement read: "Sheffield United Football Club is shocked and extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former player, George Baldock.

"The defender, having left Bramall Lane after an impressive seven-year stint, had won over fans, colleagues, and fellow players through his commitment to the team. The entire Sheffield United community sends out their deepest sympathies to George's loved ones."
