Harry Kane branded 'invisible' in Aston Villa blank as German media turn on England star

Harry Kane was labelled 'invisible' in the German media after drawing a blank for Bayern Munich in their defeat to Aston Villa. Jhon Duran came off the bench to score the only goal of the game as the hosts secured a famous win at Villa Park.

Kane has been in fine form for Bayern this season, having already scored 10 goals in all competitions. He was unable to maintain his prolific form against Villa, though, with Emiliano Martinez pulling off a string of important saves to keep a clean sheet.

It marked the first time Bayern had failed to score in a match since Vincent Kompany took over as manager in the summer. The media in Germany were less than impressed with Kane's display, with the England skipper dubbed 'invisible' by one outlet.

BILD, who also criticised Kane after Bayern's last league match, gave him a rating of five out of six with six being the lowest score a player can receive in their system.

On his performance, they wrote: "When he returned home, the captain of the English national team remained invisible. Just as he did against Leverkusen. He only managed his only shot on goal seconds before the final whistle."

Earlier this week, the same outlet accused Kane of going missing after he failed to score against Bayer Leverkusen. They wrote: "What good are three goals against Kiel if he doesn't even get a shot on goal in a big game like yesterday?

"Fairness dictates that we shouldn't unleash the Kane-can't-win-a-title curse now, especially since he had to leave injured."

Kane passed a late fitness test to play against Villa after taking a heavy knock to his ankle in the draw with Leverkusen. He was deemed fit enough to lead the line at Villa Park after undergoing a final assessment on Wednesday morning.

Speaking after the match, Kane admitted that it was a tough night for Bayern and singled out Martinez's impressive display between the sticks for Villa.

"It's one of those where the keeper has had a fantastic game for them," he said. "We could've been out there another 20 minutes and the ball would not have gone in the net. A tough defeat but we move on.

"We just lacked that final pass or finish in their box. There were times in the first half where we had chances to play that final ball across. In the second half, we went 1-0 down and we had a few chances where he made some good saves.

"We have to learn from it. From our point of view, there was some good stuff and some stuff we need to work on. But it's not a time to panic."
