How Express polling predicted Trump win - while others were very wrong

Donald Trump has won the US election to become the 47th president - something that the Express predicted despite many polls predictinng a Kamala Harris victory.

An exclusive poll by the projected a three-point lead for Trump over Harris, securing 50% of the vote compared to her 47%.

Currently, Trump has won with 51.1%, and Harris is on 47.4%. This equates to 267 Electoral College votes for the Republican, just three under the 270 needed to take the White House. Harris is now on 224.

Trump claimed he won a "magnificent victory for the American people" and promised to "help our country heal". He made the speech in Florida after winning the key swing states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia.

He said: "[This is the] greatest political movement of all time. There's in this country.

"We're . We've got a country that needs help ... badly ... We're going to fix our borders ... We've made history."

Republicans will also take control of the Senate in a significant victory, CNN predicts. The GOP winning control of the Senate marks the first time they've had a majority in the chamber since 2021.

During his speech, Trump predicted his party will also take the House, though the race is still on. He said "it looks like" they will seize a majority.

The Express exclusive poll also predicted a Trump victory by a margin of victory extends to five points in Pennsylvania - the most - 51% to 46%.

This was incredibly close to the actual outcome, with Trump winning by 50.8% to 48.3%. This monumental victory gained him 19 Electoral College votes, giving him the boost he needed to well and truly clear Harris.

This has been called "the greatest political comeback in American history". Vice President JD Vance said: "We just witnessed the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America.

"Under President Trump's leadership, we're never going to stop fighting for you, for your dreams, for the future of your children.

"After the greatest political comeback in American history, we're going to lead the greatest economic comeback in American history under Donald Trump's leadership."
