and have formed one of the most exciting rivalries tennis has seen in recent years.

The young stars split the Grand Slam titles this year and they have both been No. 1 in the world, with Sinner currently occupying the top spot.

There's been plenty of debate over which player is "better". But Sinner's coach has now admitted he'll never profess his man is superior to Alcaraz.

Sinner and Alcaraz have set themselves apart from the rest of the field. Even after Alexander Zverev surpassed the Spaniard in the rankings this week to return to No. 2, he said: "They are still the two best players in the world, in my opinion."

The likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have also always spoken highly of the young Major champions. But as with any high-profile rivalry, fans are often at odds when naming the best of the two.

Even Goran Ivanisevic recently weighed in, claiming . But one man has surprisingly refused to pit the two rivals against each other.

Discussing Sinner's biggest rival, Cahill told : "I have a lot of respect for him. I will never say that Sinner is better than Alcaraz or vice versa."

Naturally, the Aussie is still happy to support his man when he faces Alcaraz. "If they meet in the final in Turin, I will cheer for Jannik and enjoy the show," Cahill added.

Cahill has always spoken highly of Alcaraz, even though he has often been a hurdle for Sinner at some of the biggest tournaments. The Spaniard has a 6-4 winning record against the world No. 1 and has won all three of their tour-level meetings in 2024.

Following Sinner's maiden Grand Slam title run at the Australian Open, Cahill said: "Carlos has trailblazed a lot of young players.

"We're thankful for that. He's a delight to watch play and it's a delight to watch him on the court."

Sinner and Alcaraz have still been able to forge a friendship away from the court and the world No. 1's mentor says their bond was genuine.

"They both respect each other and like each other and you'll see that on the court tomorrow regardless of who wins," he explained.

"I think these two young men are going to play each other many, many times in the next 10 years and this is just another part of their rivalry. I'm looking forward to it."
