'Immaculate' campsite is 'highest in the UK' with stunning view of country's tallest peak

A stunning in the shadow of Britain's tallest peak boasts cosy camping pods and claims to be the highest of its kind in the country.

Glen Nevis Holidays in Fort William, , has four fields set aside for caravans and motor caravans all of which provide stunning views of the surrounding mountains, according to the campsite's .

Five fields are specifically for tent , and you can even rent out a camping pod with a double or two single beds, for a stress free getaway.

The pods can fit up to three people, with features including underfloor thermostat controlled heating, a sink and cold water tap, plugs, free WiFi, and a nearby facilites with a toilet, shower and laundry.

If you're looking for a bit more room you can also book holiday caravans in the site's self catering park which are also well placed for awe-inspiring views, and also has the the Glen Nevis Restaurant & Bar nearby on the boundary of the site.

The has a high 4.5-star rating on from more than 1,170 reviews, with one recent visitor hailing it as "immaculate".

The reviewer, who stayed there for two nights in August in a motorhome with their two dogs said: "The location and views are stunning. The food from the hut near reception is amazing, generous portions and excellent quality."

"The cleanliness of the site is immaculate, and the staff are helpful and friendly. Highly recommended, we will return in the future," they added.

Another TripAdvisor user who visited last year said it offered, "Absolutely fantastic views of Ben Nevis".

"It's amazing to sit out on a night and see all the stars, as well as the torches coming down the mountain," they said, adding: "Booked for one night and ended up staying two nights. Very spacious pitches, staff were friendly and welcoming."

Glen Nevis Holidays is now closed for the season and will reopen in March 2025 until November 5. But if you're looking to plan ahead you can book stays now, an additional night free of charge for every three nights booked.

People who stay at the site often use it as a base to climb the huge mountain, though it's best to follow official advice on how and whether to tackle it.

Thankfully there are plenty of other things to do nearby if you're just looking for a relaxing weekend away.

Fort William, a town on the shores of Loch Linnhe, is just a five-mile drive away, where you can find various pubs, restaurants and shops, reports.
