veteran Gail Platt could be set for a swift exit from the show, according to fan speculation that has been gathering momentum.

Viewers of the celebrated ITV soap have conjured up an audacious twist: Gail might be harbouring a startling revelation she is possibly pregnant with Jesse's child, her former lover who has made a surprising comeback to the streets of Weatherfield.

While numerous aficionados have taken to jesting about the scenario, some seemed earnestly intrigued by the chance the show could venture into a storyline featuring an older pregnancy. This wouldn't be a first in the realm of dramatic television plots nor in reality, where the globe's eldest mother to conceive twins did so at 74 years young.

Erramatti Mangayamma currently holds the record as the worlds oldest new mother and achieved motherhood through IVF using donor eggs, giving birth securely via caesarean section on Indian soil.

Gail, within the fictional landscape of Coronation Street, is aged 73, mirroring her portrayer Helen Worth's real age. Factoring in the likelihood given the significant age difference with Jesse, who is a youthful 55, her conceiving isnt beyond the realms of possibility, reports .

Various speculations have sparked debates across multiple social media platforms. A fan teased: "Watch out, soon enough [people] will be saying Gail Platt is pregnant!" while another bantered: "Gail Platt pregnancy sealed?"

Some took their predictions a notch higher, as one fan cautioned: "She better not be!" Meanwhile, on X the successor to Twitter a user confidently claimed: "Mark my words she'll end up pregnant or something and want to raise the baby abroad."

Another avid social media user shared their thoughts, saying: "I'd actually love this because they could kill her off-screen and send the baby to David and Shona to raise, or have them appear years later as a surprise."

Helen announced her departure from the show earlier this year, confessing: "This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world."

She added, "I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding. I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out, and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew. The past 50 years have flown by and I don't think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet."
