has seemingly revealed the shocking fate of Tom King in a dramatic plot twist.
The notorious villain, portrayed by James Chase, has been at the centre of much turmoil over the past year. Viewers will remember his relentless verbal and physical abuse towards his wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
In addition to attacking her, Tom also tormented her cherished dog Piper, leading Belle to believe the pet had died - only for it to be alive.
Thankfully, Belle broke off their relationship and exposed the truth to her family, eager to break free from Tom's grip. However, Tom has continued to make life difficult for Belle, vowing to never release her.
As her mental health deteriorated, Belle admitted herself into a secure mental health facility last month. Meanwhile, Tom's 'true' psychopathic nature is gradually being revealed, reports .
And this week on the soap, events took a drastic turn for Tom.
Despite orchestrating attacks on himself to elicit sympathy, his efforts were met with indifference. In Tuesday's episode (November 5), Tom attended the village fireworks display outside the pavilion, defiantly stating he would not be cowed.
However, Tom was enraged when he noticed that the 'Guy' being thrown onto the fire by the Dingles bore a striking resemblance to him. The atmosphere grew tense as the villagers watched the Guy burn.
Adding to the drama, Tom confronted the Dingles, each of whom claimed responsibility for creating the 'Guy'. A threatened Tom retreated but lost his temper and attacked his girlfriend Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell).
However, avid viewers are convinced that the beloved soap has subtly revealed how Tom will meet his end, amid rumours that actor James Chase is leaving the series. On an Emmerdale discussion group, one viewer remarked: "Tom's face when he realised it was him on the bonfire! " Another speculated: "Did Emmerdale just hint that Tom's going to die in a fire? ".
One fan concurred: "I thought this too" While another confidently stated: "Yep! Hopefully, he'll burn to death." A different viewer pondered: "Maybe they'll do a Coronation Street and someone will bump him off and well spend until Christmas guessing whodunnit! " And yet another commentator anticipated: "I see a whodunnit coming soon."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
