Emmerdale aired an explosive twist on Tuesday night amid the Tom King and Belle Dingle storyline.

During Monday's episode (September 30), Tom woke up in hospital with his uncle Jimmy King by his bedside, writhing in pain following last week's attack.

The police soon arrived to quiz Tom on his memories of the attack, but he admitted the whole thing was just a "blank" and cut the interview short.

However, evil Tom soon phoned Belle and fumed: "Don't I even get a hello? After what you did to me?" Then threatened her to visit him in hospital - "or else I'll tell the police everything".

On Tuesday night, Belle's family helped to cover up the attack, which happened in self-defence, and made plans for her to flee the village to Ireland. However, she received a menacing message from Tom demanding she head to the hospital, reports Leeds Live.

After arriving at the hospital, Tom told Belle if she dropped the allegations against him that he had abused her, despite being true, he wouldn't tell the police she was responsible for the attack.

Belle was horrified as Tom tried to gaslight her and after he continued to threaten her, it looked as though Belle was going along with Tom's plan - especially when he asked for a kiss on the cheek, where he kissed her on the lips in a vile twist.

Later at the hospital, Tom lied to the police and said it was two random men who attacked him, claiming he had never seen them before.

However, at the end of the episode, Belle headed to the police where she revealed the truth and handed in the weapon. Belle said: "I've attacked my husband in self-defence, he wanted to kill me, I'm a victim of domestic abuse."

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers wondered whether Belle recorded Tom at the hospital which can be used as evidence against the evil vet.

One person said: "Record everything Belle! #Emmerdale", a different account put: "I hope Belle has the sense to record Tom this time" while another added: "Now, if Belle had a bit of sense, she'd have her phone recording in her pocket #Emmerdale."
