ITV The Chase's Mark Labbett says show left him feeling 'utterly demoralised'

was left "utterly demoralised" on popular gameshow . The quizzer, nicknamed The Beast, revealed last year that he had a "breakdown" before playing against a "star team" in one of the episodes.

He frequently appears alongside other quiz champions like Anne Hegerty, Darragh Ennis, Shaun Wallace and Jenny Ryan on the show.

Mark, 59, previously said: "I had a breakdown prior to the final chase. I was utterly demoralised by yet another star team.

"I still applauded and congratulated the team but it was edited out," he continued.

At the time he garnered support from fans and fellow Chaser Paul Sinha, who wrote on X: "It's easily lost we're not robots, we're human beings trying our best. Whatever you see on screen is a snapshot of us at an unspecified moment...

"We could have been under stress for any number of reasons, much of [which] may be long forgotten." In recent months, Mark has been dealing with turbulence in his personal life.

Fans were also quick to send their love and support to the beloved gameshow icon.

One user on the social media platform said: "It's the most frustrated I have seen you! On the bright side my wife and I were laughing at how grumpy you looked but in a nice way if that's possible. All part of the twists and turns that great show provides."

Another said: "You could tell halfway through with the tone in your voice you knew that you had been beaten..."

Meanwhile, his ex-girlfriend, Hayley, has been open about her split with Mark earlier this year revealing that he dumped her because he "didn't want to divorce his ex-wife Katie".

Speaking to The Sun, Sky Entertainment reporter, Hayley explained: '"He has really lived up to his name. The Beast has been a beast. It has come as a complete shock. I thought we were really happy. I'm heartbroken and blindsided. His behaviour has been beastly."

Mark was also with his team at the after The Chase won Best Daytime show in September. He missed out on taking to the stage with the likes of , and Sean Walsh who accepted the accolade.

This came as a shock as the show recently celebrated its 15th year anniversary on the small screen.
