LIV Golf star Tyrrell Hatton goes on incredible rant in middle of fairway

It's safe to say that Tyrrell Hatton isn't a big fan of the 18th hole at the Jumeirah Golf Estates course. The player finished with a par for a second-round 69, leaving him with .

The team-mates will head into the weekend just one behind Frenchman Antoine Rozner, in what is shaping up to be a gripping finale.

But Hatton was anything but happy as he completed his round, despite unleashing a brilliant tee shot down the middle of the fairway.

However, with a creek running down the left-hand side of the fairway, Hatton got to his ball and decided he would be better off laying up then trying to make the 282 yards to the pin. And he was anything but discreet about his feelings on the matter.

"I despise everything about this hole," he shouted. "Having to hit a nine iron after a good tee shot shows how bad it is... I mean it's just so ridiculous, everything about this I despise. Truly awful golf hole."

His caddie, Hugo Dobson, tried in vain to ensure the 33-year-old kept his focus. "Yup, just hit a good nine iron here Tyrrell," he replied. "(Aim) at the right centre."

On Sky Sports, commentator Alison Whitaker saw the funny side. "Well he's doing my job for me," she said, having previously been critical of the fairway design. "Did you get that? He doesn't like this hole."

Hatton managed to get on the green in two from his position, and then could only two putt for par. And the LIV rebel having an outburst during play will come as nothing new to fans, with the Englishman notorious for his fiery temper.

But he remains in real contention for a first ever DP World Tour Championship win. That follows , and a runner-up finish at last week's Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Hatton is currently permitted to play on the European circuit after . And his recent outings have also boosted his hopes of another Ryder Cup appearance in Bethpage next September.

But it's McIlroy who remains in pole position to land the Race to Dubai title. It would mean a third straight championship success for the Northern Irishman and his sixth overall, which would take him level with the legendary Seve Ballesteros.
