M65 traffic LIVE: One person killed and five injured after horror 3-car crash on motorway

M65 motorway traffic is building after a horrific three-car crash killed one person and injured five others.

The major motorway in Burnley has been closed since about 4am this morning (October 2) following the three-car smash near junction 9.

The road is closed in both directions from junction eight to junction nine and emergency services remain on the scene.

Traffic is heavy in the area, with congestion on many of the surrounding roads. Flow has been slowed down to a crawl for most.

Police confirmed that one persion died in the crash, saying their thoughts are with their loved ones.
