Ruben Amorim was pictured meeting several of his new Manchester United players for the first time at Carrington on Tuesday, including one outcast who is reportedly at the heart of his plans. The Portuguese tactician is settling into his new life in Manchester after arriving from Sporting on Monday.

Amorim will be on the training pitch with United's new-look coaching staff once he receives a work permit, a process expected to be complete in the next few days.

In the meantime, the 39-year-old is holding a series of meetings with the club's hierarchy and other staff while most of his players are away on international duty until next week.

However, in images released by United on Tuesday, Amorim also spent time getting to know those squad members currently stationed at Carrington.

While some United stars who aren't representing their countries are on holiday this week, others have stayed behind to continue their recovery from injuries.

Amorim was pictured wearing a bright smile while sharing passionate hugs with Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount at the club's training base.

He was also seen in a friendly interaction with Leny Yoro, who is nearing his competitive United debut after missing the start of the season with a foot problem.

Amorim, too, embraced young midfielder Toby Collyer, another player liked by Ten Hag whose role has been fettered this term.

Above all, the new United boss' exchange with Mount carries the most intrigue following reports of his plans for the 25-year-old midfielder.

According to , Amorim considers Mount a key fixture in his plans at Old Trafford after a vexatious start to his United career.

Erik ten Hag sanctioned a £60million deal to sign the headline Chelsea man last summer, handing him the iconic No. 7 shirt.

However, relentless injury woes have limited Mount to just 26 appearances and 11 starts since his arrival, leaving many to ponder whether he's destined to enter history as another big-money flop.

Amorim is said to be a huge admirer, though, and wants to put Mount at the centre of his revolution.

The England international excelled at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, who also favoured Amorim's trademark 3-4-3 formation, using Mount as one of his two inside forwards.

It's claimed United's new head honcho rates his versatility, which will prove a vital asset in his free-flowing system.

Mount returned from his latest spell on the sidelines against PAOK last week and will be eyeing a starting berth in Amorim's first game at the helm at Ipswich Town next Sunday.
