Miranda Hart's unique way of dealing with heartbreak after brief split from new husband

Miranda Hart has shared that her and her now-husband almost never made it down the aisle. The 51-year-old comedian and her friend enjoyed a 'sore Hart heart party' as she had a brief split from her anonymous beau.

In her book, I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You, with the man who she met during the pandemic lockdown. She met the building surveyor, who she often refers to as 'The Boy', when he attended her home to look at a mould problem.

The pair hit it off and began dating but 'briefly' split before realising the depth of their feelings for one another. Following the 'ghastly' split, the stand-up threw herself a pity party where the two ate crumbles with different toppings and ranked them.

The TV star wrote: "I followed my own advice and had a sore Hart heart party with my friend.

"I reminded her that I was the appointed Royal Crumble Taster and she should go to the shops immediately to get me all the crumbles and all the possible toppings so I could go through them and decide the best combination.

"She allowed me to wallow with the first crumble as I missed The Boy so very much, but then she made me list my wins and all the progress I had made using the remaining crumbles to celebrate and therefore not to fully crumble!"

Miranda revealed on the One Show on Tuesday that she married the building surveyor this year at the age of 51. She shared that he proposed in Kew Gardens, West London.

In her book, as quoted by MailOnline, she wrote: "I met my best friend and the love of my life who brings me more silliness, laughter, joy, support, care and safety than I thought possible in a person, because I lost my house due to mould illness and he was the building surveyor on the house remediation project."

The star explained that she believed that her "hope for finding love was very, very slim."

Despite the couple's deepening feelings they were forced to take a break and work out whether their circumstances would allow them to reunite.

While she is working hard to hide his identity, she described her lover as "salt-and-pepper greying hair look on a fine featured man". She later described her husband as "kind, loving, and really fun".
